_________________________ CASA NORTE: A Tribute to Pre-existing Architecture with a Contemporary Vision. The intervention seeks to address the challenge posed by a long corridor and a fragmented layout that hindered the flow of natural light and limited the sense of space. To overcome this, the design connects the living room and dining area with the kitchen, creating a visually larger, more open space that maximizes natural light from the terrace. This solution ensures that light bathes the entire apartment from both facades, allowing a fluid visual connection between all rooms when desired. A key aspect of the project is the enhancement of the original architectural elements of the apartment, built in 1930. The design exposes key structural features, such as the restoration of the Catalan vaulted ceiling and the partial reveal of brick walls. Both the original and newly constructed elements were unified through the use of a single color palette, creating visual harmony and establishing an interplay of textures. This approach pays homage to the apartment's historical roots while integrating a contemporary aesthetic. The design is marked by its simplicity approach, with a strict focus on functional elements and a clean visual aesthetic. This is achieved through the seamless integration of doors with custom-built furniture and vertical wall coverings, reinforcing the project's commitment to clarity and minimal intervention.
